Jan. 28th CLE: Establishing a Self-sufficient Gorilla Refuge in Rwanda!

Our International Practice Section, in cooperation with the WSBA Animal Law Section, is pleased to present:

Establishing a Self-sufficient Gorilla Refuge in Rwanda:
One Washington Attorney/Veterinarian's Amazing Story

Dr. Jobe Garbe, a home-grown Seattle-based attorney and veterinarian will share with us her dream to create a self-sufficient refuge for gorillas and other indigenous wildlife in Rwanda, and describe her trials and tribulations in turning her dream into reality.

Dr. Garbe served as the Field Veterinarian for the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project in Rwanda and is also the founder and Managing Director of RwandaNOW, the Rwanda Wildlife Sanctuary & Science Education Center, and international non-governmental organization ("NGO").

Attendees at this very unique CLE will gain an understanding of:
  • An overview of the legal framework of international and Rwandan laws as pertaining to NGOs;
  • How to form and manage an international NGO in Rwanda;
  • The legal obstacles faced by NGOs in Rwanda;
  • Animal rights and conservation laws in Rwanda.
