February 24th CLE: Information Technology Act of India and its Implication for U.S. Companies

The WSBA International Practice Section is pleased to sponsor our second CLE this month:

The Information Technology Act of India and its Implication for U.S. Companies

Background:
The Information Technology Act of India was enacted in 2000 as a corollary to UN's Model E-commerce laws. In 2009, the Act was amended and a number of new provisions were added in response to 2 factors: (i) the increased use of cyber technology by terrorists in the Mumbai attacks, and (ii) the enhanced need for data protection in the face of India's growing outsourcing industry. This presentation will discuss the impact of these amendments on U.S. companies that are conducting business in India.

Attendees at this interesting CLE will gain an understanding of the following:
- The Indian legal system and how it stands in reference to technology;
- Development and precedents set forth in the Information Technology Act;
- Impact of the Information Technology Act on U.S. Companies doing business in India;
- Practical Tips when dealing with the Indian Legal System.
