The WSBA International Practice Section is pleased to sponsor a July 1st CLE this month:
Managing Risk When Drafting Agreements For Cross-Border Transactions Between U.S. and Japan
Background:
Join Ms. Naoko Shatz as she examines steps that American lawyers or businesses can take to protect itself from liability for conduct by its Japanese business partners when drafting and negotiating agreements for cross-border transactions. Examples of recent cross-border transactions and related agreements that have been drafted and negotiated will be introduced to identify the common issues and pitfalls. In addition, business problems in conjunction with the legal issues that are unique to Japanese corporations will also be discussed to distinguish between domestic corporate work and international corporate work.
Attendees at this interesting CLE will gain an understanding of the following:
- Overview of the Japanese legal process;
- Practical Tips for practitioners when preparing such cross-border documents;
- Advantages and disadvantages of engaging in such cross-border transactions.
