June 4th CLE: International Aviation Law

The WSBA International Practice Section presents the following CLE:

International Aviation Law

Aviation Law is a rapidly growing field. As this field expands more and more practitioners are looking for guidance in this field. The CLE will also provide an overview of current developments and issues in International Aviation Law.

Attendees at this interesting CLE will gain an understanding of the following:

- An overview of laws & regulations pertaining to International Aviation Law.

- A comprehensive look at the “The Warsaw Convention Regime”

- Current trends in the field of “International Aviation Law.”

- Practical tips for practitioners handling International Aviation issues.


Speaker:
Robert Hedrick, a Seattle Attorney with 20+ years of experience in this field will explore the intricacies of the International Aviation Law and specifically highlight “The Warsaw Convention Regime.”

May 28th CLE: International Rivers Law

The WSBA International Practice Section and the Environmental and Land Use Section are co-sponsors of the following CLE:

International Water Law

Daniel Seligman, attorney-at-law in Seattle, will discuss a recent study, World's Major Rivers: An Introduction to International Water Law with Case Studies, published by the Colorado River Commission of Nevada. The report summarizes treaty provisions on 15 rivers and identifies innovative management agreements.

The CLE will discuss the intricate and complex laws related to "water" and the various tools used to manage international waters. The CLE provides an excellent entry point and introduction to this area of law.

Attendees at this interesting CLE will gain an understanding of the following:

- An overview of laws & regulations pertaining to international law.
- A comparative analysis of the differences & similarities between various treaties dealing with international water law.

Speaker:
Daniel Seligman is an attorney-at-law and the principal in the Columbia Research Corp., an energy/water/natural resources consulting company in Seattle.

Dan is the primary author of two studies published by the Colorado River Commission of Nevada, Laws of the Rivers (an examination of the legal regimes of major interstate rivers in theUnited States)(2006) and World's Major Rivers (an introduction to international water law with case studies)(2008). Both studies are available for no cost on the Commission web site, http://crc.nv.gov/index.asp?m=wat.

Dan's presentation will focus on international water law and the results of the World's Major Rivers study.
